SPARKLING
Fresita Strawberry Sparkling (Chile 8% £9.85) One of our best sellers, this blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscatel stands out, with each variety fermented separately before blended for a second fermentation to obtain the final extra dry sparkling wine base. Finally small, freshly-picked, intensely flavored Patagonian strawberries (from the foot of the Andes) are added to the natural sparkling wine, making a wine full of intensity, refreshment and strawberry sweetness.
GIN
Defiance British Strawberry (England 40% £43.85) celebrates Britain at its summer finest. 14 Signature botanicals together with British strawberries create a delicious sunny gin with just an added touch of sugar to lift the strawberry flavour. Wonderful depth and complexity with an earthy backbone giving way to fresh citrus, wonderful notes of anise, and of course, strawberries! Lovely with a light tonic and fresh sliced strawberries or try with prosecco!
Puerto de Indias Strawberry (Spain 37.5% £32.80) This premium gin is produced in one of the oldest distilleries of Andalusia, located in the town of Carmona in the province of Seville. With a translucent, light pink appearance, it shows a soft touch of liquorice and the sweet, wild flavour of strawberry and juniper with just a touch of cream.
ROSE WINE
Running Duck (South Africa 13% £9.45) wines are both organic and fairtrade accredited, named after Indian Runner ducks that eat insects and snails in the vineyards, meaning no need for insecticides and harsh chemicals. This Shiraz-based Rose wine is playfully fruity, full of strawberry and red fruit with a serious undertone and finish.
Monsoon Valley (Thailand 12% £10.50) Rose wine ensures skin contact with grapes for 4 hours to bring out excellent colour, as well as free run and gentle pressing for excellent clarity and flavour. The resulting wine shows succulent strawberries and sweet tropical fruits, finely balanced with a tight acidity backbone and a lively finish.
Bella Modella (Italy 12% £8.65) is an excellent example of a refreshing and delicate Italian Rose. Crisp and juicy with strawberry laced aromas and lots of creamy fruit. Perfect to drink on its own in the sunshine!
RED WINE
The Pinot Noir grape is renowned for being one that requires careful attention to grow to its finest form. The work is well worth it, with wines that typically have heady perfumes and pure, sweet, red berry flavours including succulent strawberry.
J Lohr Pinot Noir (USA 13.5% £21.50) is a fine example of how California has become one of the finest world regions for Pinot Noir. Full of cherry preserves, fresh strawberries, violet and creme brulee with a rich, soft palate with fine grained tannins and clean acidity.
Montsable Pinot Noir (France 12.5% £10.65) has a judicious use of oak on 20% of the wine to provide subtle seasoning and weight. Very aromatic with fresh cherries, strawberries, bramble and just the faintest hint of vanilla. Tremendous depth of fruit shows on the palate which is supported by an underlying minerality.
Purcari Pinot Noir (Moldova 13% £13.10) is made from grapes harvested and selected by hand, and produced using traditional methods. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrique, the complex bouquet shows strawberries, raspberries and violets. Velvety taste, full, persistent, with a satisfying aftertaste presenting fine nuances of maturation.
Cabernet Sauvignon is a versatile grape; the most popular red grape in the world. It is traditionally known for profiles of blackcurrant, cedar wood and subtle tobacco, but can also show healthy amounts of strawberry.
LA Cetto Cabernet Sauvignon (Mexico 13.5% £10.00) is one such example, spending one year in oak and six months in the bottle before release. Aromas abound of redcurrants and strawberries with succulent tannins, excellent balance and a lingering finish.
Snapper Rock Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon (New Zealand 13% £12.65) uses hand picked grapes de-stemmed without crushing and aged in French Oak Puncheons for 7 months, fined with egg whites. The result is a complex bouquet of bright cherries, strawberries and redcurrants with subtle, dark earthy notes, a long fine structure and bright acidity.
The Kalecik Karasi Turkish grape is a hidden wonder in the world of wine. It is occasionally likened to Pinot Noir, but certainly retains its own uniqueness in the wines it produces which are known for bringing forward a plethora of red fruit aromas an d flavours.
Diren Collection Kalecik Karasi (Turkey 13% £9.95) has a 7 day fermentation and brings aromas of red fruits, such as strawberries, alongside background notes of banana, light tannins and optimal finesse and elegance.
Vinkara Reserve Kalecik Karasi (Turkey 14% £18.80) uses hand picked grapes and short fermentation with skins and 14 months ageing in French oak for a robust premium wine. Aromas of raspberries, cherries and strawberries are interwoven with hints of spices, vanilla and cocoa for a well-balanced, smooth wine showing soft tannins and a lingering finish.
